Not too long ago, Juniper Networks began selling Ethernet switches. That means that when it competes head-to-head against arch-rival Cisco, there’s now only one key part of its product portfolio missing: wireless LAN equipment. When Kevin Johnson replaced Scott Kriens as CEO, Kriens indicated that Johnson would continue on the acquisition trail. In fact, at least two WLAN equipment vendors have revealed to ABI Research that they are indeed part of the beauty contest. Interestingly enough, Juniper has had some history with Colubris Networks (now part of Hewlett-Packard) and with Meru Networks. It also has been widely rumored that Juniper has been looking at Aruba Networks, a company with the largest market share of WLAN equipment outside of Cisco.
